Tawhida Alfarsy Shortlisted for Volunteer Award

June 6, 2023

The Nation of Sanctuary Awards were first hosted in 2019 and after a very successful event, after the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards once again returned in 2023. The awards are a celebration of the contributions of sanctuary seekers in the arts, languages, business and volunteers from across Wales. At the Trinity Centre, we have been extremely proud to hear that Tawhida Alfarsy who volunteers here at the centre was shortlisted for the Volunteer of the Year award. Tawhida was awarded 3rd prize in this category, for which the award is given in recognition of the dedication and commitment made by an individual volunteering in the charitable, public, or private sector supporting asylum seekers and refugees. She has volunteered with the Welsh Refugee Council’s Play project here at The Trinity Centre for nearly 4 years, supporting children and their parents, helping us to provide them with a safe place to play and have fun.

Further awards which were awarded on the night were:

1.   English Learner Award

2.   Welsh Language Learner Award

3.   Woman of the Year Award
